Vicki: Artist Statement
I made the black circle in the center because it represents the chaos of the magnitude of disorganization that I feel over the past 25 year.
The circle is not filled in because I have some Hope.
I used the Tic-Tac-Toe imagery because I love the simplicity of the individual pieces. And I used a variety of colors because they represent different emotions—a deep sadness. A feeling of helplessness. Circles and X’s… layering them together—subconsciously I think that’s what this piece is about. Making the art made me feel childlike and fun. I have a hard time with fun. This is helping me make sense out of the seemingly senseless.
The colors give voice to my feelings.
