Carrie: Artist Statement
I put bright blossoms on the tree, and I wanted the trunk to be dark. The darkness blossoms into beauty. The tree represents the tree of life. On each of the branches is one of my journeys. I have been at some really dark places in my life, most significantly when I lost my mom to a heroin overdose five years ago. Despite all of this, I have been able to blossom into an amazing person. I love myself. I can say that now. I am at peace.
